Not Just Another Blog Post with Quotes

Once or twice a week, we’ll post a quote on our social media channels. Usually it’s in the form of an image with text, branded with our black-and-white color scheme. The primary purpose of that kind of post is to inspire and engage. The more subliminal purpose is to give you a better understanding about what NCC is all about by sharing these quotes that resonate with our team.

The point of this post though isn’t to explain the importance of these kind of posts. This post is more an exercise in re-purposing content– something we’re really big on.

Re-purposing Content

The phrase kind of says it all, but re-purposing content is the practice of taking content in one form and re-creating it in another form.

In this case, we’re taking images that were created for social media sharing, and turning it into a mixed media blog post: this intro + this explanation on re-purposing content + the quotes in text + the images + conclusion

Sounds cool, but what’s the point?

You re-purpose content because each member of your audience absorbs content differently in different places. It also allows you to get impressions from more sources.

Up until this blog post, our quote images lived only on Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter. We get decent exposure and engagement on those platforms, but we can do better (and we will!)

I now turn it into a blog post. I get impressions from our loyal RSS subscribers. Eventually, this will get some impressions on Google and Bing. I can use this link and create traffic-driving ads on multiple ad platforms (thinking Outbrain and Reddit to start). This will also capture the traffic so that I have an audience to re-target for future blog posts. I still can do better though.

I make slides out of the quotes, and throw the presentation on Slideshare. I get views on my branded presentation from Slideshare itself and search engines (Google loves Slideshare).

Maybe I turn the Slideshare presentation into a YouTube video. It’d be kind of boring, but might be worth a shot– YouTube is the world’s second largest search engine after all.

Along the way, I get the attention of Johnny (who loves Slideshare, but hates subscribing to blogs), Jill (who loves reading her RSS feed every morning), and Ann (who lives on Instagram).

Steal our quote images, but give us credit pleasssse

I’m guessing a big portion of you who landed on this blog post just want the damn quotes, and I’m going to give them to you now. Feel free to jack these images for your own channels– all I ask is that you mention or link us wherever your post it.

Here are our channels:

The 2 reasons for writing this blog post

I wrote this blog post for a couple reasons.

  1. to share with you some pretty sweet quotes that we take to heart
  2. to give you a good example in re-purposing content

Hopefully, you got what you came here for. Crossing my fingers that if you came for #1, you learned more about #2.

If you need help with re-purposing (or distributing) your content, we’d love to assist you whether we actually do the work for you or train you. Get more info on our content distribution / re-purposing service by clicking the link.
